Third Age Foundation / Senior Help Line

Third Age is a national voluntary organisation which promotes the value of older people’s contribution in their local communities. Third Age has over 1,400 older volunteers working throughout Ireland as listeners, tutors advocates and more.

Senior Help Line - LoCall 1850 440 444 - is a national confidential listening service for older people provided by trained older volunteers for the price of a local call anywhere in Ireland. Senior Help Line is open 10am to 10pm, 365 days a year, including Christmas day. All calls are completely confidential and no call will cost more than 30 cent. 

Fáilte Isteach, a Third Age programme provides classes in conversational English to non-Irish nationals throughout Ireland. Fáilte Isteach now has 106 centres.

Third Age National Advocacy Programme provides volunteer advocates to nursing homes throughout Ireland to the benefit of residents, families and nursing home staff. An advocate helps residents express their wishes and receive their entitlements. All volunteer advocates have participated in induction and on-going training, are supported by the Advocacy Development Officer, undergo supervision and have Garda clearance.
