Active Retirement Association

Active Retirement Associations aim to help retired men and women, usually over the age of 55, to lead full, happy and healthy retirements by offering organised opportunities for a wide range of activities including holidays, outings and socials, creative and learning programmes, indoor and outdoor sports and community work. There is an annual insurance and affiliation fee and a nominal charge for meetings.

Alzheimer Society of Ireland

Rings, cards, bingo, exercise to music, dinner, sports and services such as manicure, day trips and reflexology. Family care support group, every second Friday 11am to 1pm in St Fiacres Parish Centre, Loughboy.

Cairde Club

Club for over 60s. Afternoon Tea. Activities include exercise, bingo cards, art and crafts, library and occasional speakers. People can be collected from their home and returned.

Canon Nolan Day Care Centre

Two days per week, Tuesday and Thursday, 10.30 am to 4.30 pm.

Full three course meal supplied, also Afternoon Tea. Activities include exercise, bingo, cards, art and crafts, library and occasional speakers. Some gentle sports activities. Annual holiday. Day trips. People can be collected from their home and returned. Chiropody service, hairdressing and laundry service available.

Dalton House Day Care Centre

Monday to Saturday (inclusive), 9 am to 5 pm. Day Care Centre offering lunch, meals on wheels, laundry and assisted baths.

Respite care Thursday. Craft and Art classes, book club. Social night - bingo, cards, music and refreshments, Wednesdays, 7.30 pm to 10 pm.

Go for Life Senior Group

Meet Mondays, 10.30am to 12pm in The CourtYard Restaurant, MacDonagh Junction for coffee, chats, and speakers.
Every third Monday we go bowling. We also do day trips,holidays and weekends away.

Men and women welcome, new members always welcome.

Kilkenny Age Friendly County Programme

Founded in 2010 as part of the World Health Organisations network of Age Friendly Cities and counties. Its Vision is that Kilkenny City and County will be a great place to grow old in, enjoyed and appreciated by everyone. Kilkenny will be a county that enables its people to age with security, dignity and the capacity to participate as citizens to their fullest potential.

Kilkenny Seniors Forum

The Kilkenny Older Peoples Forum (now the Seniors Forum) was established under the Age Friendly initiative in 2010. The structure of the Forum was agreed by older people during consultation meetings and comprises of members from older peoples groups and individuals throughout Kilkenny city and county and has an Executive of 16 members holding monthly meetings at Kilkenny County Council offices, John St., Kilkenny. The Forum is currently looking for new members with a variety of skills and interests to continue to develop Kilkenny as a great place to grow old in.

Kilkenny/Carlow Alone

Befriending and Support organisation for older people. Volunteers visit older people in their own homes.
If you would like a visit make contact with the friendly and helpful group - phone or call in.

New volunteers always welcome.

We are also a designated organisation for Seniors Alert personal alarms. Grants are available for people aged 65 and over.

Third Age Foundation / Senior Help Line

Third Age is a national voluntary organisation which promotes the value of older people’s contribution in their local communities. Third Age has over 1,400 older volunteers working throughout Ireland as listeners, tutors advocates and more.
