Castlecomer Community School

Castlecomer Community School

Ours is a Community School with a number of features which distinguish it from other types of second-level schools. The school is managed by a Board of Management which is the statutory body responsible directly to the Department of Education and Science.

As a community school it is our responsibility to provide a comprehensive range of programmes and subjects which enable all students of the community, both academically and otherwise, to reach their full potential. As our mission statement emphasises, all those who live in our area are welcome to participate in the education we provide. Since education is not merely a matter of academic achievement, we also put considerable emphasis on the spiritual, social, physical, civic, cultural and creative development of each student. The spiritual ethos of our school is that of a Christian community which welcomes members of all religious denominations and ensures that their beliefs are catered for.

The school is equipped with the following: 3 Science Laboratories, Demonstration Room, 2 Art Rooms, Music Room, 2 Home Economics Kitchens, 3 Computer Rooms, Design, Communications & Graphics Room, 2 Woodwork Rooms, Engineering, Workshop, Oratory, 12 Classrooms, All rooms have a data projector & internet access, Gymnasium, 2 Pitches, Outdoors, Basketball Courts, Floodlit Athletics Track, Student Lockers, Canteen, Tuck shop.
