Coláiste Mhuire

The school, through a comprehensive education programme, aims to provide educational opportunities to meet the needs of each individual student. It is a non-selective school, enrolling pupils of the full ability range from all sections of the social strata. It is co-educational with a policy of eliminating gender bias, encouraging girls to study traditional boy’s subjects and vice versa. It provides religious education for all denominations.

It is a social and educational hub providing comprehensive second level schooling, including both an extensive Trasition Year Program and the Leaving Cert Applied syllabus.  Continuing education for adults is provided via FETAC (Further Education and Training Awards Council) in Childcare (Level 5 & 6), Secretarial Studies (Level 5) and Care of the Elderly (Level 5).  Coláiste Mhuire is also a major local community resource centre, with a vibrant Night Class program, with courses in areas such as Computers, Welding, Wood Turning, Digital Photography and Aerobics among others.

The School has a wide range of facilities including: a Library, two Science Laboratories and a Demonstration Room, a Business Studies Room, three Computer Rooms, a Technical Drawing Room with Computers for Design & Construction Graphics, Wood Technology and Construction Studies Room, Metalwork and Engineering Room, Art and Crafts Room, Home Economics Room, a Language Lab, a General Purpose P.E. Hall and a Guidance Suite.

Outdoors facilities include: 3 Basketball Courts, 2 Tennis Courts, and a full size GAA playing field, a state-of-the-art Astro Turf complete with Floodlights and modern dressing rooms.
