  • Ace Fire Protection

    Provide the following training courses: Basic Fire Safety training Module 1, Fire Safety training Module 2, Fire Warden's course, Emergency Evacuation Ski sheet, Skipad and AlbacMat training. Also provide risk assessments and advice. Observed evacuation drills with debriefing and report.

    All instructors in Fire Safety are Institute of Fire Engineer (IFE) accredited and are active fire fighters. Instructors in Emergency Evacuation Aids are certified instructors with Phoenix Ireland.

  • Alliance Française

    Alliance Française

    French conversation and written French evening classes run by qualified teachers for adults of all abilities from beginners to advanced conversation. There are social and cultural evenings consisting of talks, films and meals out once a month. Enrolment early September and early January.

  • Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann

    Traditional Irish music lessons for children from age 6 and adults.

    Classes in whistle, banjo, mandolin, flute, fiddle, button accordion and concertina.

  • Community Education

    This service facilitates and supports community based learning in locations throughout the City and County. Its aim is to encourage adults to return to learning in their own local communities. Subjects include personal development, art, sign language, crafts, computer skills and others as identified by the community or group themselves. Classes generally run for 6 to 10 weeks and the Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board assists funding a tutor or facilitator. A minimum number of participants is required to begin a class.

  • County Kilkenny Adult Guidance Service

    This service is part of the Kilkenny Adult Education Service, Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (ETB). It is primarily aimed at adults who left school without formal qualifications and who are at risk of long term unemployment and/or for those adults who wish to improve their basic education and skills. All adults are welcome to contact the service for the purpose of up to date, impartial education information. 

  • ENGLISH

    Kilkenny Adult Learning Service 

    English language classes for beginners, intermediate and advanced. Classes are offered September to June, on a part-time basis, mornings and evenings. All classes are subject to availability and fees may apply.
     

  • Gowran Park Racecourse

    Gowran Park is the only Grade 1 racecourse in the South East, with sixteen top-quality National Hunt and Flat meetings all year round.

    Gowran Park provides modern facilities, in the heart of racing country, to enjoy the excitement and spectacle of a day at the races.

     

     

  • Grennan College

    The Grennan College Equestrian Centre offers practical and academic courses for those seeking careers in the horse industry. The Centre has an all-weather outdoor ménage and an indoor school. Courses available in Equestrian Studies and Horsemanship. 

     

  • Irish Circle

    Simple conversational Irish for Adults at all levels of fluency takes place at the following libraries:

    • Loughboy, Wednesdays 11 am.
    • Ferrybank, alternate Tuesdays 11.45 am.
  • Irish Pony Club

    The Irish Pony Club offers instruction and training in riding and horse/pony care and they organise annual summer camps. Annual membership €110. Check the website for contact details of your local branch.

  • KASES (Kilkenny/Carlow Area Supported Employability Service)

    A free and confidential service available to employers, employees and jobseekers. KASES is a Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection funded initiative that enables and empowers people with varying abilities who require extra support or those with a disability or an illness to search for employment in the open labour market. We prepare people to access and maintain employment while also assisting them to integrate into the staff team. We are also available to those who are in paid employment and need support to sustain their role.

  • Kildalton College

    Kildalton College offers a wide range of further and higher level courses in agriculture, horticulture and equine studies. Courses range from Certificate to Degree level (in conjunction with Waterford Institute of Technology). Kildalton also offers a wide range of adult training programmes and short courses in association with the local Teagasc Advisory Services.

     

  • Kilkenny Academy of Music

    Tuition available for adults and children, beginners to advanced, in singing, piano, keyboard, violin, cello, guitar and viola. Group classes in Junior Cert and Leaving Cert Music available.  Occasional master classes from professional musicians. Professionally qualified teachers.

  • Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (ETB)

    Kilkenny and Carlow ETB run a variety of evening classes in locations around the County. Courses range from short hobby and leisure subjects to longer work-orientated programmes which can lead to certification. Evening classes provide the opportunity to learn a new skill or brush up on an existing one in a friendly relaxed environment.

    Enrolment takes place in September and January of each year. Details of classes and enrolment nights are available from each School/Centre directly and are advertised through the ETB website, on local radio and in the local newspapers.

     

  • Kilkenny Multimedia Centre

    Beginners and advanced computer courses at low cost including internet, social media and e-mailing, ECDL, CVs. Funding may be available to unemployed people, check with the Centre.

    Open Monday to Thursday, 9.30 am to 1 pm. Community drop-in Monday to Thursday, 1pm to 1.30pm.

    Free ten hour computer classes for adults.

  • Kilkenny School of Music

    Pupils from Senior Infants to 6th Year. New pupils in Senior Infants, 1st or 2nd class in primary school join the Foundation Class before starting to play an instrument. Lessons are given on violin, cello, double bass, recorder and piano. Also for older pupils, clarinet, oboe, flute and brass instruments. Lessons are held after school hours and on Saturdays.

    Orchestras and Choirs: The majority of enrolments are taken in June for the following September.

  • Libraries

    Internet access is free to library members - booking is advisable. Non members are allowed one free session and then there is a €3 charge per ½ hour session. WiFi is available in the Loughboy, Ferrybank and City Library, John's Quay.

  • Maynooth University Kilkenny Campus

    Maynooth University's Kilkenny Campus offers the First Year of a full time, Honours Arts Degree (Applications for this course are through the CAO only and the Course code is MH901)

    Subjects on offer include: English, History, Law, Anthropology, Economice, Sociology, Philosophy and Theology. The second and third year fo the degree on the main campus in Maynooth.

  • Mount Juliet - Equestrian Centre

    The equestrian centre provides picturesque trails on the beautiful grounds of Mount Juliet Estate which incorporate woodland and river trails. Groups are small and guests can enjoy the trails on our well mannered schoolmasters. We offer trails of 30 minutes, one hour, one and a half hours or two hours as well as group and individual lessons of various durations for both adults and children.

  • Newpark Close Family Resource Centre

    Offers a wide range of activities and supports to Newpark Close and the eastern environs of Kilkenny City including: family support, low cost counselling, parenting programmes, family mediation, childcare service, youth programmes, drugs outreach worker, computer classes, Multimedia accredited test Centre, accredited and non-accredited educational programmes, various older person’s programmes, parent and toddler groups, social groups, Failte Isteach (conversational English classes), Men’s Shed and Community Savings Club.

    Lessons, beginners onwards. Adults and children from age 6. Helps develop all-round  learning and creative ability. Lots of fun!

  • Premier First Aid

    One day course in Basic First Aid and one day Paediatric First Aid, three day courses in Health and Safety (occupational first aid) and half day courses in CPR/defibrillation available. We now provide one day Sports First Aid and four day Emergency First Responder courses.

  • Rhythm Riot Music

    Samba drumming and Brazilian music workshops for Community, School and Social groups for children from age 6.

    From once off “Samba taster workshop” to parades and performances.

    Programmes are tailor-made for your group. One to one lessons in hand-drumming and percussion also available.

    Spanglish specialises in the Spanish language and offers Spanish lessons from beginners to advanced.
