Located 11km from Kilkenny City, Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre is a deep, worked-out quarry. The Amphitheatre holds a variety of events over the summer months from puppet theatre to Mozart, treasure trails to traditional music, the massed ranks of the Garda Band to solo performers. Founded in 1225 this is one of Ireland’s oldest churches and is still in use by the Dominicans by whom it was founded.

Look out for the excellent examples of modern and antique stained glass windows, the wooden roof and the stonework.

At Goatsbridge Fish Farm, trout is our passion.

Our knowledge and experience farming rainbow trout has been passed down through three generations.

Visitors are welcome to look around our trout farm at any time during opening hours. Just call into our visitor centre and someone will show you around.

Since its foundation in 1974, Kilkenny Arts Festival has gathered many of the world’s finest musicians, performers, writers and artists in Ireland’s medieval city. For ten days each August, the city’s historic churches, castle, courtyards, townhouses and gardens offer a magical setting for unique collaborations and intimate encounters between audiences and artists.

A beautiful park whatever the season. Plenty of open lawns. Children’s play area. At the far end of the park away from the castle is a wildlife sanctuary and pond – a great incentive to walk just that little bit further! Opening times vary with the seasons (see sign on main entrance gate).

With games played at five different grades including Grand Masters and International Masters and attracting players from as far afield as Russia, this international festival welcomes all chess enthusiasts.
